The International Authority is a joint Canada-Michigan governance entity established to oversee and approve key steps in the public-private partnership procurement process for the Gordie Howe International Bridge. It is also responsible for monitoring compliance of the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority with the Crossing Agreement signed by Canada and Michigan in 2012 and the Project Agreement with the private partner. The International Authority consists of six members with equal representation from Canada and Michigan. Two members are appointed by Canada, one appointed by the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority and three appointed by Michigan. The appointment term is until one year after the bridge opening (currently expected to be November 2025).
The Government of Canada will consider bilingual proficiency and diversity in assessing applicants. Preference may be given to applicants who are members of one or more of the following groups: women, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and members of a visible minority group.
Proficiency in both official languages would be preferred.
A link to this notice will be placed in the Canada Gazette to assist the Governor in Council in identifying qualified candidates. It is not, however, intended to be the sole means of recruitment.
