**If you have applied between August 7, 2020 and August 25, 2020, you do not need to re-apply to be considered for this position.The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated) operates, manages, monitors, constructs, rehabilitates, maintains and repairs the following bridges, roads, and tunnels under federal jurisdiction located in the Greater Montreal Area: the Jacques Cartier Bridge, the federal sections of the Honoré Mercier Bridge, and the Bonaventure Expressway, as well as the Champlain Bridge Ice Control Structure, and the Melocheville Tunnel. The Corporation is also responsible for the deconstruction of the Champlain Bridge.Every day, the Corporation ensures a safe drive for thousands of users by managing, maintaining and repairing this important infrastructure for Greater Montreal. The Corporation also ensures that these critical structures remain safe, fully functional and aesthetically pleasing both today and in the future. It conducts construction, rehabilitation and reinforcement projects on the infrastructure under its responsibility and oversees the operation and maintenance of these structures.The board of directors is composed of up to seven (7) members, including the Chairperson and the Chief Executive Officer. The Board provides strategic guidance and oversees the organization and administration of The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated as well as the management of its resources, services, property, personnel and contracts. It sets corporate objectives and strategic directions, oversees the implementation of said objectives and strategic plan, monitors corporate performance, reviews financial objectives and results, analyzes key dimensions such as security, safety, environment and risk management, ensures that the principal risks are identified, mitigated and managed for each project and maintains strong and effective stakeholder communications.Safety and security remain top priority issues. Given that many of the infrastructure assets of The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges were built prior to 1965, careful monitoring is required. Significant capital investments need to be carefully managed to ensure the continued safety of existing assets, and construction of new assets. The Board is working on rehabilitation programs to address these issues and exhaustive repair plans are underway for some of the structures.In view of the significant responsibilities of The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated, board members schedule numerous meetings of the Board and its committees throughout the year to manage the various activities. Special meetings may be called on short notice to address specific or emergency issues. Board members are permitted to attend board and committee meetings in person or by electronic means, although they attend the majority of meetings in person as appropriate.
