The Pacific Pilotage Authority Canada (Pacific Pilotage Authority) is a Crown corporation, headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Authority is responsible for providing safe, reliable and efficient marine pilotage in the coastal waters of British Columbia, including the Fraser River. Similar to other Crown corporations, the Pacific Pilotage Authority operates at arm’s length from its sole shareholder, the Government of Canada. While the shareholder provides policy direction for the corporation’s ongoing operations, as stated in the Financial Administration Act, the Pacific Pilotage Authority Board of Directors ensures that the corporation fulfils its mandate by setting the corporation’s strategic direction, organizational goals, and monitoring their implementation.
