The National Farm Products Council works on behalf of the Government of Canada to provide oversight of the national supply management agencies for poultry and eggs, as well as to supervise national promotion and research agencies for farm products. The National Farm Products Council is responsible for administering two federal laws: the Farm Products Agency Act and the Agricultural Products Marketing Act. The Vice-Chairperson is primary advisor to the Chairperson. When required, the Vice-Chairperson acts as special liaison with industry stakeholders on Council's special projects and initiatives. As required, the Vice-Chairperson sits on Complaint Committees and Public Hearing Panels.The Chairperson of an agency presides at meetings of the agency but in the event of the absence or incapacity of the Chairperson, or if the office of Chairperson is vacant, the vice-Chairperson of the agency acts as Chairperson for the time being.
